A Sustainability Editor Shares the Eco-Friendly Travel Products She Can't Live Without
As a sustainability editor at Treehugger, I think about (and engage in!) eco-conscious travel a lot - and I have a tried-and-true array of green travel staples. For instance, I don't leave home (or the country) without my Naeco water bottle. And unless I am going someplace where people drink coffee in ceramic cups at the counter (hi, Italy), I bring my Stanley Adventure Vacuum Mug. It's the perfect petite size and helps me not participate in the to-go coffee-cup trash disaster.

For walking from one end of a city to the other, I always pack a pair of Veja vegan sneakers. And if there's a chance of rain at my destination, into the suitcase goes my ever-amazing Blunt Metro umbrella – a compact umbrella that stands up to the 55-MPH gusts and comes with a lifetime guarantee. (Umbrellas should not be disposable!)

My tote bag would be amiss without some Stasher bags. These reusable zipper storage bags are mostly used for food; they are great for travel snacks and eliminating single-use plastic. But they also work wonders for chargers, make-up, sunscreen, jewelry, and all the bits and bobs that I inevitably pick up while traveling.

Speaking of sunscreen, I like Badger products for their kindness to coral reefs. Using as little sunscreen as possible is the most eco-conscious approach, which is why I am obsessed with Eric Javits "Squishee" straw hats – they look great, and literally roll up and can get squished into your suitcase.
